From Boxes to Blessings
Bob wanted to do more. Esther needed someone to pray.
Bob had been faithfully loading the van for years, but this time, he felt called to do more—not just to lift boxes, but to lift hearts through prayer.
He joined me this last Wednesday morning, we met Esther. It was her first time visiting Charlie Center. She came for the Center’s valuable resources, sure, but she really wanted prayer. She shared that her son, Nathan, is in critical condition after a traumatic brain injury.
Esther carried herself with quiet strength, and her words were filled with conviction. “I love God,” she told us. It was evident that her faith was not diminished by hardship. When she showed us a photo of her son—tubes and machines surrounding his young body—she wasn’t asking for pity. She wanted prayer.
And Bob, who had quietly served behind the scenes for years, was there to provide it.
That morning reminded us of something we know but is hard to prioritize in the face of so many immediate needs. Spiritual need is just as immediate as physical need.
Sometimes, the most meaningful gift you can bring is simply your willingness to pray.
What is Your Your Deeper Yes?
If you can’t sponsor a Bag or show up to pack one, know that your willingness to pray matters. Like Bob, you might find that your fervent whispers done in the quiet place lead to something far more powerful than you expected.
